Landing page is a webpage often geared specifically for an offer in an email. When the subscriber clicks to visit the page they don’t have to read your entire site to find your offer, the landing page contains all the information they need and gives them a method to take action.

An opt-in landing page is designed to capture permission-based email addresses usually through a form which allows the visitor to “opt -in” to receive email communications from that company.

A few examples of opt-in landing pages are:

  1. sign up for a newsletter
  2. incentive with a lead magnet to provide their email address

Yes, you need a domain for a landing page. A domain is the location of a webpage, without one a visitor would not be able to find your landing page online.

Most landing page builder platforms will provide you a domain and several even have the option for a unique custom domain. A custom domain is a branded name that a unique to your URL.

Do landing pages work?

Yes landing pages work. The main purpose of a landing page is to get a visitor to take one desired action. That action could be providing an email address in exchanges for a downloadable guide, selling an email, signing up for an event, or purchasing a product.

You can measure your success (or conversion) rate by dividing the number of people who took your desired action by the number of visitors to the landing page
