AWeber Grants $2,500 Scholarship to Student at NYU Abu Dhabi
Chalfont, Pa. July 13, 2017 – AWeber is thrilled to congratulate Simran Parwani, a student at New York University Abu Dhabi, for being named 2017 recipient of the AWeber Developing Futures Scholarship. Out of hundreds of submissions in AWeber’s annual essay contest, Parwani’s composition on digital communications was selected as this year’s winning entry. She has been awarded $2,500 toward her tuition as she pursues her educational and professional goals.
This year, AWeber posed the following two questions to scholarship applicants:
- How do you think digital communications (social media, email marketing, etc.) have affected the way businesses communicate with customers?
- How can businesses improve upon their use of digital communications in the future?
In her essay, Parwani–who is a freshman studying Computer Science–brings the transformation of digital communication to life using the example of a girl scout who sells cookies today versus ten years ago.
“Eight year old me sold cookies by going door to door asking-no, begging—my neighbors to order,” she writes in the essay. “A little over a decade later, my neighbor’s daughter uploads aesthetic pictures to Instagram asking her followers if they want cookies. Unsurprisingly, she sells a lot more cookies than I did.”
Parwani further elaborates the ways in which digital communications have affected the way businesses interact with customers stating, “Today, digital communications offer infinite space; but businesses must now compete for attention. B2C interactions have become more customer-centric and aim to produce high-quality content to convert the lead, resulting in informed and empowered customers.”
“Simran’s essay was attention grabbing and enlightening,” said Julia Nitschke, member of the Content Marketing team at AWeber and a member of the review committee for this year’s essay contest. “AWeber is pleased to present her with this year’s Developing Futures Scholarship and to support her in her future endeavors.”
“I’m so grateful for this scholarship because it will truly help pay for school,” Parwani said. “I hope to make the most of the opportunities I have and hopefully have my own company one day where I can provide scholarships for students just as AWeber has for me.”
