Post Your Email Newsletters to Your Facebook Fan Page

Like many businesses, you may be exploring integrating social media with your email marketing campaigns. Doing so can expand the reach of your messages and grow both your fans/followers as well as your email list.

So at AWeber, we’ve made a point of helping you combine email and social media by helping you automatically share your email newsletters on Twitter and Facebook.

As some of you noted when we rolled out our integration with Facebook, it only worked with personal profiles (not fan pages) due to limitations with Facebook’s API. We knew you wanted to post to your fan pages, but it wasn’t technically feasible at the time.

Well, as the saying goes, the only constant is change. And this is a good one. Facebook has changed their API, we’ve changed our integration and you can now post your email newsletters to your fan pages.

How to Share Your Email Newsletters On Your Facebook Fan Page

Go to your List Settings page and click the “Connect To A New Facebook Account” button under the Social Media / Sharing header (this works the same way whether you have a Facebook account connected already or not).

Connect to New Account

When prompted, allow AWeber Email Marketing to manage your pages.

Allow Access

When you create your broadcast, go to the “Social Media/Sharing” section and choose to share the email on your fan page.

    Also you remember there is something called group on facebook?

    Now we can add on fans pages, we also need to do same on group pages.

    This is great news. I never used this feature before as I didn’t want to clutter my personal profile with email newsletters, but will definitely put this to use in the near future.

    Just curious–what part of the newsletter gets posted? Facebook has a limit of some 420 characters or so (and this limit seems to change without warning); does the first part of the message get posted?

    I suppose I could try it to see what happens.

    But thanks! This could make my life a bit easier. :)

    Great. I should try this one with my next newsletter. One of our websites Facebook Fan Page has +5,000 Fans which should give us a good idea of how this would be effective.

    If you share the enewsletter as describe above. Will the unsubscribe link be displayed as well. I am thinking this would potentially lead to someone clicking on it and unsubscribing yourself.

    Good job guys!

    I would love to see two more integrations:

    1. Incorporate a Like Button into the broadcast that allows subscribers to become a fan of our page.

    2. Incorporating another Like Button into the broadcast so that existing Fans can share the post.

    It sound good to me to post on fan page instead of the profile page initially.

    However, when I think for a while I realised that some of the emails I might not want to share with my FB fan.

    My question is the new settings allow me to select which email to post or I can’t?

    I am sure there will someone like me interest to know this.

    Okay guys here’s my input for what it’s worth :

    I’m using Facebook for my email marketing now more than Aweber & here’s my reasons why.

    1) It’s far easier ( for me anyway ) to get facebook fans than it is to get subscribers.

    2) If I had the same amount of subscribers that I have Facebook fans then I’m not sure what I would be paying on a monthly basis to Aweber ( it says contact them for pricing ) but with Facebook it’s FREE.

    3) There’s far more interaction with your fans & geo targeting with Facebook than Aweber ( especially with the new integration )

    Don’t get me wrong I love Aweber & the service they provide and still use Awebers service for certain things but for me Facebook is the way forward & will be for some time.

    For all the guys who have Facebook groups my advice is set up a fan page and try to get your existing group members to join your new fan page.As you are probably aware Facegook changes fast & nobody really uses or joins groups much now….You can do alot more with a fan page.

    I’m certainly not going to rule out the possibility for some businesses, that’s the case. However, I’m not sure that it’s the rule. In our recent survey of small businesses, the majority rated email’s return on investment as higher, more measurable and more quickly realized than social media’s.

    I think the easiest thing to do would be to include a link to your Facebook page in your email template. That is the way I have my newsletter set up.

    The thing with the auto "like" button is that it requires either the use of Javascript or an iframe, and with emails you have to stick to very basic HTML to make sure it doesn’t all get stripped out.

    You’re mixing up two things that shouldnt be mixed up. Facebook is no replacement for Aweber and make no mistake about it. You should have both working in tandem. FB is a sleeping giant and your fanpage is something they are letting you have.

    Aweber on the other hand, and your email list is your business’s biggest asset. You pay for it because you own it. You dont own your fans on facebook, even if you do have access to them today. Who knows what FB will decide tomorrow.

    This is great, however, since many of us have multiple fan pages we manage, in order for this to be effective, what is needed is a way to select which pages you want updated with the email post. So to be able to click on or off on the Fan page or pages you want updated.

    I totally agree with what you are saying however My biggest assets are my Fan Pages & Application.I never said Facebook was a replacement for Aweber what I said was Facebook from a marketing point of view is working out better for me than Aweber.

    I guess it all depends on what your business model is but for me Facebook’s working.I may not own my fans but I didn’t have to offer them anything in order for me to access their inbox – What’s your open rate on 100k plus subscribers ? What ever it is it’s not viral & that’s my point.

    I have several fan pages related to different aweber lists depending on the user’s interest. I’ll have to be careful if Steve Houston’s idea of integration happens. I think it’s a good idea but would sure like to be notified before it does happen and would like to maintain the option of separate fan pages for separate lists.

    This is a great feature for twitter as well. You simply broadcast a message and it updates Facebook and Twitter accounts automatically.
