All of these recommended plugins are described in our new book “Toxic WordPress Plugins: How the most popular plugins waste your time and hurt your page speed.” They all are proven to slow down your site and negatively affect mobile user experience.

    Thanks for the feedback Steve!

Site speed is certainly important, but there’s also an argument for ease of use and interconnectivity. When building your site you’ll need to weigh the benefits of each plugin against your overall marketing strategy. If you need a leaner website with the best possible load time, I would agree with you.

However, if you’re looking for a more crawlable site, or one where some aspects are basically on autopilot, then these plugins can help you accomplish that. It’s best to use only those plugins that serve a specific goal in your marketing strategy.

Lots of good stuff here. My favorite WordPress plug in is Pop up Ally Pro which enables me to have a sign-up pop-up that doesn’t drive my regular readers crazy by popping up all the time. It’s intelligent and knows when they’ve already signed up and doesn’t come up again. You can also have multiple pop-ups about different things. very flexible. And crikey their service is impeccable. I had a problem setting up that was NOT of their making and they came in and fixed it for me.

Good thing you’re discussing one of my favorite online marketing subjects. WordPress. I’ve been considering for the longest time now installing a WP blog on this site to add and autopost positive quotes to. Thing is, sometimes I get tired and just need a nap and keep putting it off. So now, I’ve been looking for a WordPress plugin “I thin I found it it’s called Content Egg,” that’ll give you an array of choices for content you can publish to your WordPress blog and save in draft mode to publish at any date and time while unattended from the computer. Thing is, I can’t find a decent WP template to compliment the blog so I’ve been a tid bit frustrated. If anyone knows of another WordPress plugin that sends positive quotes in draft mode to your blog so you can add content to the blog post in your own words before publishing, please feel free to respond to my reply with a link to the WordPress plug-in, so I can look further into it and see how it can possibly benefit my blogging venture. Thanks in advance. 🙂
