T-Shirt Design Contest – Win a Year of AWeber!

UPDATE 2/13/09: We have a winner!

We need your help!

After seeing the popularity of the AWeber socks we occasionally send out, we think it’s time to add some T-shirts to the AWeber wardrobe. :)

However, we’re so busy running AWeber and working on enhancements (like the recent control panel redesign) that we haven’t come up with a finished design!

This Is Where You, Our Loyal – And Creative! – Readers, Come In

We need your humorous and witty ideas for an email marketing-related design and slogan for the shirts.

So, we’re running a simple contest.

  1. Submit your design and/or slogan ideas in the comments below.

Text ideas are fine, but if you want to show us what you have in mind, you can use the T-shirt below as a template and link up your design in your comment.

(It’s not necessary to create/include a full-blown design to win – we’ve got skilled designers here. We’re mostly looking for content/slogan ideas.)

  2. Our judges (a board of trusted email marketing professionals – namely, us) will review the entries and pick the best one.
  3. The winner will receive 1 year of AWeber service for free – and of course, we’ll throw in a free T-shirt or two.

Contest Deadline: Friday, January 23, 2009 The Contest Is Now Closed and We Have a Winner!

To be eligible for the prize, submit your entries in the comments before 11:59PM on Friday the 23rd. The contest is closed and we have a winner!

Even though there will only be one winner, we’ll try and pick a few runner ups and send them some free t-shirts as well.

Thanks, and good luck!

The concept I have is a T-Shirt covered (including front, back & sleeves) in a Tag Cloud like what is up above to the right under the "Popular Topics": affiliates AWeber culture blog newsletters call to action Case Studies confirmed opt in content ideas design email authentication Email Deliverability email newsletters email statistics email web analytics examples from line holiday marketing HTML email templates ISPs list building marketing calendar multichannel marketing New Features personalization Press Releases recommendations relevance rendering rss to email scheduling segmentation spam complaints split testing strategy subject line targeting testing thank you page traffic unsubscribes usability video email web forms

and any other marketing-friendly Web 2.0 buzzwords that might apply.

In the center of the tag cloud, as the largest letters, could be "I’m with AWeber".

Good luck with the contest, and I hope I win!

I’m thinking a possible reference to some taglines of the past:

"Wouldn’t you like to be AWeber too"

"Internet marketer by choice, AWeber by the grace of God"

"AWeber – it’s not just for breakfast anymore"

"AWeber – when you care enough to send the very best"

"AWeber – when it absolutely, positively, has to get there in seconds"

"You’ve got an email friend in Pennsylvania"

"You can have my AWeber when you pry it from my cold dead computer"

Since all the Guru’s out there call aWeber the Cadilac of autoresponders, why not use something like this:

well, i figure from a positioning standpoint your rivals aren’t taking to heart the whole "set up a timed email campaign" thing, and i think this is the product feature that could help you win market share. plus this design will get you talked to at conferences you might attend, plus everyone will want one i’d wager :)

Are You Making These Mistakes Online?

=== here’s a little elaboration on the slogan above ===

    1. The first statement is a proven timeless classic profit-pulling headline in direct marketing, of which email marketing is a part of. So use it to grab their attention.

    2. Create a sales letter and publish it at Aweber.com/mistakes

This letter should be aimed at newbies. They are the ones making mistakes like (i) sending a marketing email with all recipients exposed in the To field; (ii) spamming often due to lack of CAN-SPAM awareness; (ii) send emails randomly without a strategy because they don’t know how the game works…. so explain to them why what they are doing is wrong, and how AWeber can help them.

I see this campaign will be more profitable if targeted at email marketing newbies. Email users who are currently using other providers (such as getreponse) probably already know of AWeber and they decided NOT to buy your service. So don’t waste time chasing those guys. Focus on newbies.

Here are some based on the Miranda rights

    – You have the right to connect. AWeber, email marketing for everyone.

    – You have the right to affordable email marketing. AWeber, email marketing for everyone.

    – Anything you say can and will grow your business. AWeber, email marketing for everyone.

    Some others

    – You don’t have to know what our name means because you can’t beat our value. AWeber, email marketing for everyone.

    – Be a part of our world. AWeber, email marketing for everyone. (visually, for this one, I think having some posts from the user forums would be powerful).

This is a drawing with words.

A circle with your own symble in the circle.

Six spokes with equal spaces on the outside of the circle.

In each space the letters of a-w-e-b-e-r with the a at
    the top of the circle.

The symble could be a spider or any other sign such as
the figure 8 on it’s side for infinity.

The circle means the globe or the world.

The spokes mean reaching out to everyone everywhere.

giant A covering the face of the t.
crossbar is the profile of two little (stick) people sitting, smiling, facing their computers (maybe have those parts of the A frame double as the backs of their computers). their backs are to each other with enough space to still draw the middle part of the crossbar and touching their backs to connect them. you could put ‘automatic awareness’, maybe ‘automatic awebness’ instead of all or most of that line.
at the bottom of the A, almost like another crossbar, ‘effective email marketing management(ing)’. should give you that pyramid look.

if any designs, descriptions, logos or slogans are not used by aweber for this contest, they remain the property of GTUniversal and can not be used by anyone else for any reason.

You are so right… There is some really great copy here. I love several of the one’s already submitted like: "Email Made Simple" and "Auto Responsive". A lot of really great minds out there!

My entry is short and sweet (like a good domain), hopefully a little intriguing in more ways that one and has the ability to make you think. It is a directive to take action as well as the main attribute to what make AWeber effective. I feel that it’s a lot like your mission statement, as it relate to what has really made Aweber the great company that it is.

Over deliverering is a great attribute when your working in a fun environment. Keep up the great work. I’m proud to be your client.

I’ve submitted a short video to Justin P. – (E.M.Manager) per the advice of customer service rep Bob Ricca, yesterday.

I don’t care who at AWeber views it, but do have an issue sharing such thoughts in such a public forum. Perhaps, this is a bit against the grain, and as a blogger myself I do understand the importance of frequent commenting and interaction to your website, but my interpretation of this cry for help is that you’d want serious effort and effectiveness as a result.

Of course, I’m up the creek and my effort is moot, if Justin doesn’t share it with anyone, because he doesn’t see it. I asked the question of AWeber, and implemented what was asked of me, so I hope that it at least is viewed, and not lost in a hay stack.
