Google+ and Email Marketing Podcast: The Remix

We made some predictions about Google+ – Google’s new social network – in a podcast a few months ago. What is this new network all about? And how does it compare to Facebook and Twitter for online marketing?

During our first podcast, Google+ was still in a limited beta release. It’s since opened to the public and made some changes to its many features. Now that it’s a new year, we wanted to follow up with our predictions from last year and include some new insights for integrating the social network with your email marketing campaign.

So what’s changed and what does it mean for your online marketing efforts?

How Google+ Has Changed

Google+ has seen some changes since its public release in September 2011. Among the more noticeable changes are:

What Does This Mean For Your Business?

That’s just what our follow-up podcast discusses. We talk about the new features and search functionality and answer some additional questions like:

Tune in to learn the answers (and find out if Jay, Andrew and I were right about our predictions for Google’s new social network five months ago!).

What’s Your Take?

Originally, Jay declared that Google+ would no longer exist. Andrew and I took a less drastic view that the network would fill more of a niche role for content distribution.

With improvements and changes that Google has made to its social network, what role do you see it filling in your own marketing plan? Will you try to grow your list through search results? Or broadcast a Hangout with your customers on YouTube? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

  2. The thing about google plus is that if you have a Google plus button on your website, you may as well use it to publish your own material. It only takes a minute and the net result is that you have another link to your material that google will find. As for joining up with other people, circles etc, not sure its worth the effort. Have a look at and see the google + button at the bottom. After I post the blog entry, I click this and add it to Google plus. Takes 30 seconds.
