Calling All Designers: Email Template Contest

“We’ve heard your feedback and want to clarify any concerns about the submission guidelines (updated here). We’ve updated them to reflect that there’s no coding required and image files are acceptable submissions. With that change in mind, we’re extending the deadline to Monday, April 30 to allow more designers time to compete.”

Graphic designers, a challenge for you:

Can you read Smashing while simultaneously smashing through barriers that may be keeping small businesses from thriving?

We submit that you can. Furthermore, we think you can do it by designing an email template.

You see, we’ve recently unveiled our new broadcast editor with a drag-and-drop interface that makes email creation super easy for our customers, and we’d like them to have some awesome templates to use with it. So along with Tuts+ Premium, an amazing resource for web designers, we’re holding a contest.

Changing the World Through Design

With enough power behind it, a positive idea can make the world a better place. But the businesses implementing those brilliant ideas don’t always have the technical know-how to, say, design their own email template.

Every aspect of the AWeber service is geared to help those businesses grow without that know-how. Our hope is that by doing so, we’re also:

We’d like you to be part of it. The right presentation can give these positive ideas even more power, so we’re looking for some rocking email templates from inspired designers.

Prizes, Rights & Ownership

All winning templates will include a footer link with the designer’s name (if desired) and link to their site. Winning designers will be featured with a short bio and interview on the thinking behind their design, also featuring their site, to our blog, customer and affiliate communities.

Winners can choose to either add the template to AWeber’s library for further exposure, or keep their winning design to use however they wish (keep, sell, whatever their choice). Winners will retain full rights to their designs and the template will not be used without their permission.

The designer of the top winning templates, as voted on by a panel of AWeber marketers and designers, will be awarded:

Design Considerations

These templates should be designed for small businesses and microbusinesses, people trying to reach out to their customers and potential customers.

They send things like newsletters, one-off messages, sets of product listings, and coupons. You may want to

Either format works; which you choose is up to you. Whichever way you design your template, you’ll want to take a look at how our new editor works so you can see how marketers will be using it. Also note, they’ll be adding paragraphs and probably pictures, so make sure to leave plenty of space for them.

Submission guidelines are here. There are templates available for you to start from. Choose one and make your own. When you’re ready, send us your creation according to the guidelines.

The deadline’s Friday, April 20 Monday, April 30, with the winner to be announced on this blog. We can’t wait to see what you’ve got!

  1. This is pretty cool. I can’t wait to see all the creative ideas out there. I’m a coder but dubble in some design. Will definitely enter and give it a shot. Who knows?

  2. Wow Amanda,

The prizes are VERY interesting to say the least. Unfortunately, graphic design is not my thing.

I’ll pass this on to a friend of mine who totally rocks on this area but I’ll follow up on the contest to see the creativity getting unleashed!
