It’s the first full week of the December, which means the holiday season is now in full swing. In between all of the hustle and bustle that comes with this time of year, you may also want to take some time to relax. What better way to do so then to watch one of the classic holiday movies that will surely be playing non-stop on TV for the next month?
It’s not just mindless entertainment though. Believe it or not, you can actually learn a thing or two from the morals of all of those holiday shows that you can apply back to your email marketing practices.

No Man Is A Failure Who Has Friends
It’s A Wonderful Life is considered not only a great holiday movie, but one of the greatest movies of all-time, period. Toward the end of the film, the main character, George Bailey, is visited by a guardian angel named Clarence. He shows George that even though he’s fallen on hard times, his life still has meaning. The moral that he leaves George in a book is that “no man is a failure that has friends.”
That’s an important lesson for you and your business as well, especially as you look to build your email lists. Take advantage of relationships that you already have with customers, friends and colleagues. Encourage them to join your list and to tell others about it. Word of mouth is a powerful tool.
Don’t stop there. Keep working to make new friends through networking events and by adding a sign up form to your website. That way, you’ll never be a failure.
Your Emails Just Need A Little Love
A Charlie Brown Christmas packs a lot of punch for a movie with a much shorter running time than the other entries on this list.
As is usually the case in a Peanuts TV special, Charlie Brown is picked on by everyone. But after giving him a lot of flak for picking out a dinky looking Christmas tree, the gang realizes that maybe they were too hard on Charlie. His friend Linus points out, “It’s not such a bad little tree. Maybe it just needs a little love.” After adding some decorations the tree suddenly looks much better and Charlie is congratulated.
The truth is, even the best email marketing campaigns need a little bit of love every once in a while. If you’ve noticed lower click rates or opens for some of your emails, now is the perfect time to make improvements. Your emails can be revived with a little bit of effort.
